Interim Financial Controller qualifications and Experience
I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1989 with an
Honours
Business Studies Degree and am a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.

I qualified with Arthur Andersen in London and
have
20 years' experience in Finance. Previously I held full time CFO roles
in Navan Resources PLC (a diversified mining group with production
activities in Bulgaria, Spain and Hungary) and MV Technology
(Manufacturer and developer of intelligent inspection and measurement
systems for SMT manufacturing processes)
before founding VFS in 2002.
In MVT I helped grow the company from a small Trinity college campus
company ($0.5m revenue & 7 employees) in 1996 to a viable
commercial position (turnover of $28m and with 140 employees worldwide)
in 2000. In 2001 MVT was successfully sold for €100m to
Agilent
Technologies (formerly part of Hewlett Packard) for a substantial
financial gain to the MVT shareholders. In Navan Resources I was CFO
for the Irish parent company from 1993 to 1995. Navan was quoted on the
Irish Stock Exchange and I developed the Finance Function and the
financial reporting of the company’s acquisitions &
15
subsidiaries in Bulgaria, Hungary, Spain, the Netherlands and Scotland.
In January 2002 I established my own Interim Financial Control
and
General Financial Consultancy business and have used my in depth
business knowledge to assist a number of SME companies to successfully
grow and achieve their financial goals. I have also used my MVT
experience to guide start
up and young companies
through the financial pitfalls of their early years. In this role I
work closely with owner managers & senior management in a
number of
industries that includes software and gaming technology, mining,
pharmaceutical, construction, food, children’s retail and
engineering.
